Vacuum Blood Collection Tube

  1. Vacuum – Negative Pressure Design:The tube is pre – set with accurate vacuum pressure (usually with an error ≤±10%). During blood collection, blood is automatically drawn into the tube by negative pressure without manual aspiration, ensuring precise blood volume (e.g., error ≤0.2mL for a 2mL tube) and adaptability to different venous conditions (such as thin veins or veins of elderly patients).
  2. Diverse and Safe Materials:There are two mainstream materials to choose from: glass (with strong pressure resistance, few leachables, suitable for high – precision detection) and PET plastic (lightweight, shatter – resistant, easy to transport, and good biocompatibility). Some tubes use silanized inner walls to reduce cell adhesion and protect blood cell morphology.
  3. Precise Additive Adaptation:Different additives are pre – installed according to testing needs, such as EDTA (anticoagulant, used for hematology tests like complete blood count), heparin (anticoagulant, used for biochemistry and hemorheology tests), sodium citrate (anticoagulant, used for coagulation function tests), clot activators/gel separators (accelerate serum separation, used for biochemistry tests), etc. Most additives are evenly attached through spray – drying technology for more sufficient mixing with blood.
  4. Safety and Ease of Use:It uses butyl rubber sealing stoppers with good airtightness and few puncture debris, suitable for puncture sampling of automatic analyzers. The tube caps adopt international standard color coding (e.g., purple for EDTA anticoagulation, blue for sodium citrate anticoagulation, etc.), facilitating quick identification of purposes. Some products have safety protection designs (such as Hemogard™ stoppers to prevent needlestick injuries), reducing the risk of occupational exposure for medical staff.
  5. Sterility and Stability:It is sterilized by ethylene oxide (ETO) and used once to avoid cross – infection. It can withstand high temperatures (e.g., 45℃) and frozen storage. After centrifugation, the gel/serum layer is clear, and there is rarely an “oil drop” phenomenon, ensuring the stability of test samples.

Vacuum Blood Collection Tube – What Is It?

Vacuum Blood Collection Tube is a sterile, single – use medical device designed for venous blood collection. It utilizes an internal vacuum to automatically draw a precise volume of blood into the tube. Equipped with specific additives (like anticoagulants or clot activators) and color – coded caps for easy identification, it preserves blood samples in an optimal state for subsequent laboratory tests (such as hematology, biochemistry, and coagulation analyses).

Applications of Vacuum Blood Collection Tube

  1. Clinical Laboratory Testing:Used to collect blood samples for various tests, including complete blood count (CBC) with EDTA tubes, coagulation tests with sodium citrate tubes, biochemistry assays with heparin or gel – separator tubes, and glucose measurements with fluoride – containing tubes.
  2. Hospitals & Healthcare Facilities:Essential in phlebotomy departments, clinics, and emergency rooms for routine blood draws, disease diagnosis, and patient monitoring.
  3. Veterinary & Research Settings:Applied in animal blood collection for veterinary diagnostics and in scientific research for blood – related studies.
