IV Securement Dressing

  1. All-in-one Fixation and Protection:Utilizes an aggressive adhesive foam or acrylic adhesive border system to securely hold IV catheters/venous indwelling needles in place, reducing the need for additional securement devices. Some variants have a transparent membrane window for real-time visualization of the insertion site while maintaining fixation.
  2. Breathable and Waterproof:Features a high moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) to ensure breathability and reduce the risk of skin maceration. It is also water-resistant, allowing patients to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) while preventing external fluid contamination at the insertion site.
  3. Comfort and Ease of Use:Made of soft and elastic non-woven fabric or polyurethane film, which fits the skin and reduces irritation. It supports one-hand application, and some are supplied with stretchable sterile tape strips for easy fixation of infusion lines.
  4. Infection Prevention Design:Sterile packaging (mostly sterilized by ethylene oxide ETO), and some contain antibacterial components (such as chlorhexidine gluconate) to reduce the risk of insertion site infection. The absorbent pad design can contain exudate and prevent leakage.
  5. Multi-specification Adaptation:Available in various sizes (e.g., 6×7cm, 10×12cm, etc.) and shapes to meet the fixation needs of different sites (hands, arms, etc.) and different types of catheters (peripheral venous catheters, PICC, etc.).

IV Securement Dressing – What Is It?

IV Securement Dressing is a specialized medical dressing designed to fix and secure intravenous (IV) catheters or venous indwelling needles at the insertion site. It integrates functions of fixation, protection, and observation, using adhesive materials, transparent windows, and breathable structures to ensure the catheter stays in place, prevent dislodgement or movement, and facilitate monitoring of the site while reducing the risk of infection.

Applications of IV Securement Dressing

  1. Peripheral IV Catheters:Securing short-term peripheral venous catheters used for routine infusion, medication administration, or blood sampling.
  2. Central Venous Catheters (CVC) & PICC:Fixing long-term catheters like Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) and central venous catheters to maintain their position and reduce complications.
  3. Clinical Settings:Widely used in hospitals, clinics, and home care scenarios for patients requiring continuous IV therapy, ensuring the stability and safety of the infusion site.
  4. Special Populations:Suitable for patients with limited mobility or those needing to maintain daily activities during IV therapy, as it supports waterproof and secure fixation.
